Harmony Varner is the current Carbon Farm Planner with the Carbon Farm Network, hired as part of the Partnership for Climate-Smart Cotton and Wool. She works directly with farmers in the Network to develop Carbon Farm Plans, documents tailored to individual farms that identify opportunities for carbon sequestration through Climate Beneficial practices. She also works closely with these farms to provide technical assistance for implementing these practices and monitoring their progress over time. Harmony received her undergraduate degree in Organic and Sustainable Agriculture and her Master’s in Soil Science, both from Washington State University. She recently moved to the Finger Lakes region.

 Gibson Durnford formerly worked with the Carbon Farm Network to provide planning and technical assistance to farms, helping to develop and implement the first Carbon Farm Plans in the Network. Gibson directs the Watershed Agricultural Council’s East of Hudson Agriculture Program. In his role with the Council, Gibson is responsible for working with farmers, government agencies and non-profit organizations to protect drinking water quality, improve farm operations and preserve working agricultural landscapes in the East of Hudson watershed. He administers the planning, design and implementation of conservation practices on watershed farms as well as the Council’s outreach and agricultural education programs. Gibson is also actively involved with urban agriculture projects in NYC and serves on NRCS Technical Committee for Urban Agriculture. Gibson completed his graduate studies in Agri-Environmental Science with a special focus in sustainable and climate-smart agricultural practices and has worked with farms in Europe, Canada and the Northeastern US.
